Our Mission
Education First, Community Always
At The Zahra Project, we empower communities through comprehensive support and sustainable initiatives, prioritizing education. Our core focus is on providing school and college scholarships, establishing tutoring centers, and creating educational opportunities for underprivileged children and youth.
Beyond education, we are committed to improving overall community well-being by organizing free medical camps, conducting food drives, ensuring access to clean water, and supporting winterization efforts.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are dedicated to transparency and accountability in our work. Our holistic approach addresses immediate needs while building a foundation for a brighter future. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a better tomorrow for those in need.
Our Team
Zahra Gilani
Founder
Zahra Gilani, studied early childhood development which showed her that many communities needed help on a larger scale. She has been an educator for over 15 years. She started the Zahra Project when she realized that her mission was bigger than her. Gilani knows the needs and the soaring demand for assistance in communities like Multan, Pakistan intimately. While she grew up in Multan and the Zahra project planted its roots there, she eventually hopes to reach people in need globally.
Gilani’s desire to see a smarter and healthier world starts with the mission to deliver the building blocks of any infrastructure, education and food. Literacy and access to consistent meals are basic human rights she hopes to provide for underserved communities. Ultimately, she hopes this mission will recruit the right people. This may be her call to action, but she hopes the same for others as well.
Amena Waseem
Programs & Development
Amena Waseem began her work in the non-profit sector nearly seven years ago. Growing up she watched her mother and grandmother step up to nurture their communities. Watching the women in her life give back again and again, led her to Public Health as her tool to nurture her community. Her love of writing eventually allowed her to grow as a grant writer and assist organizations in expanding their grant portfolios.
As a diaspora member, visits to India and Pakistan were always eye-opening to the region’s needs. When Waseem met Gilani, collaboration came quickly upon learning of Gilani’s vision. Together they hope to seed change for individuals and communities to flourish and reach sustainable solutions.
